Dr. Raiffe believes that listening to what his patients have to say is one of the most important aspects of what he does. "By truly listening to my patients, I can understand their motivations. Everybody's rationale for undergoing cosmetic surgery is different. But, the motives have to be realistic and appropriate."
In private practice since 1985, the board-certified plastic surgeon performs a full range of surgical cosmetic procedures for the face, body and breasts, as well as less-invasive treatments such as injectables.
Additionally, he was immediate past president of the Millard Society, an elite plastic surgery society that is dedicated to furthering the education of plastic surgeons, contributing to the progress of plastic surgery and supporting funding of international missions.
Dr. Raiffe has found that, in general, most of his patients are fairly well educated about procedures and what they are seeking in terms of a rejuvenated appearance. If they do have questions or concerns, he spends all the time that is needed to explain, in detail, what they can expect.
"Although they may be knowledgeable, from having read an article or from viewing a television show, it is my job as their surgeon to expand upon what they know and advise them about which procedures are going to best suit their needs and yield the most desirable outcomes," he explains.
Although the majority of his patients are women, Dr. Raiffe says that the number of requests by men for procedures such as neck lifts, facelifts and body contouring is growing. "I have noticed a definite increase in male interest for cosmetic procedures over the past few years."
His private practice opened in Mount Sinai Hospital in 1986. For the Doctor, doing surgery in a hospital compound provides lots of benefits to his patients. "In the hospital I have access to a full medical staff and state of the art medical technology. I believe I am providing my patients the best care available." "I am constantly looking for ways to better myself as a doctor and person.
Medicine continues to evolve therefore I continue to educate myself. I believe that the most important aspect of medicine is integrity, after all I am the expert and the quality of life of our patients is in my hands."
